Delegation Request
Public Delegations are encouraged to address concerns to the Authority.
You can register as a Delegation by submitting a Delegation Request Form to the Executive Assistant no later than two Mondays preceding the preferred meeting of the Board. To view meeting dates please click here.
Delegations are limited to a maximum of 10 minutes. A group can request to attend as a delegation, but only one person is allowed to present. The Board of Directors may ask questions but will not debate the presentation. Decisions are not rendered at the meeting where a delegation is given, but the Authority may direct staff to return a report on the matter, to be considered for future decision making. Read more about delegations in the Administrative By-Laws.
Information to include in the request |
If the summary information is vague, or if your presentation (PPT, PDF, DOC) is not yet finished at the time of your request submission, the Executive Assistant will contact you for clarification and receipt of your presentation. |
Urgent issues |
The purpose of the delegation is to provide information to the Authority. As a delegate, you are there to make a presentation. The Board of Directors will review your delegation and may direct SVCA staff to report on the issue so that they can make an informed decision. Decisions are not rendered at the time of delegation. |
Location |
Authority meetings are normally conducted in-person at the SVCA Administration Office in Formosa, ON. Occasionally the meeting will be conducted remotely. Delegates at in-person meetings are required to present from the podium directly in front of the Board of Directors. It is important that the Board members and SVCA staff in attendance can hear your comments; be prepared to speak at a volume audible at the back of the Board Room. |
Meeting attendance |
Authority meetings are attended by the Board of Directors, SVCA senior management, communications and executive assistant staff. Media and other presenters may also attend the meeting. |
Presentation format |
You are welcome to submit a presentation in addition to verbally delivering your delegation to the Authority. Presentations are typically included in the Board Meeting Agenda Package. Acceptable formats include PDF, PPT, XLS, and DOC. If possible, please ensure that your presentation is AODA compliant. For advice on making documents accessible, please contact the SVCA Accessibility Officer. |
Alternate methods to have concerns heard |
If you are not able or willing to appear as a delegation before the Board of Directors, you can submit correspondence addressing your concern to the Executive Assistant. The correspondence will be included on an upcoming meeting agenda. |
