75 Years of Conservation
Celebrating 75 Years of Conservation
Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) was officially established on March 16, 1950. For 75 years, SVCA has been dedicated to protecting and managing the watershed, growing far beyond its original role in flood forecasting and water management.
Today, SVCA stewards 21,000 acres of natural spaces, helping to mitigate flooding, reduce erosion, and enhance watershed health. Our work extends across 4,675 square kilometers, supporting sustainable development, protecting drinking water sources, and fostering public engagement through recreation, and conservation initiatives.
This progress has been made possible through strong partnerships with member municipalities, as well as the dedication of past and present staff, directors, and community supporters. We extend our gratitude to all who have contributed to this shared success.
Stay tuned for details on our upcoming 75th-anniversary events this spring and summer.
