Annual Tree Planting is Underway
Annual Tree Planting is Underway by Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority in Grey Bruce and Huron Counties
Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority is in the midst of it’s 72nd year of tree planting on Saugeen
Conservation land and private land, with the support of Bruce Power, Forest Ontario’s 50 Million
Tree Program, and landowners.
Over 5,800,000 have been planted by Saugeen Conservation, and we are excited to continue this
essential program, turning open land into forests. Using our tree planting services, as well as
landowner participation, the month of May has seen seedling plantings on marginal farm fields,
repairing plantings, riparian farm fields, windbreaks and future forests. 2022 seedling orders
have sold out, marking another year of our commitment to protecting wildlife, preserving the
watershed and creating ecosystems for future generations to enjoy.
Landowners in the Saugeen Watershed can work with our experienced forestry staff to develop a site
plan for a tree planting project on their property. Funding may be available to reduce the burden
on the landowner. The planting application is available on our website.
Anyone interested in planting in 2023 should be sure to reach out to us by the fall of 2022.
