Wellington County Rural Water Quality Program

If you live in the Town of Minto, the Township of Wellington North, and the eastern portions of Grey County and Dufferin County, you may be eligible for incentive funding to support projects on your farm or rural property. These projects are intended to improve water quality in the watershed (both groundwater and surface water). An Environmental Farm Plan is required.

The Wellington County Rural Water Quality Program (WCRWQP) is a voluntary program funded by Wellington County, administered by the Grand River Conservation Authority and delivered by local conservation authority staff.

Overview of the program:

Projects can include stream fencing, tree planting, manure storage, well decommissioning and more.
Grants ranging from 50 per cent to 100 per cent of the cost of selected Best Management Practices (BMPs).

In some cases, grants may be combined with funding from other sources for a combined grant of 80 to 100 per cent of the project costs. SVCA conservation specialists can help farmers and rural landowners obtain grants from other agencies to support their projects.
