Danger at Walkerton Hydro Dam

URGENT NOTICE TO PADDLERS ❗Extreme Danger Alert❗

📍 Location: Saugeen River at the Walkerton Hydro Dam, upstream of Walkerton

Several large trees have fallen across the dam opening, making this section of the river completely impassable for paddlers. The debris has created hazardous conditions and poses a significant risk to anyone attempting to navigate through it.

For the safety of all, we are urging canoeists and other watercraft users to be prepared to PORTAGE around the dam.

The portage route is necessary to bypass this dangerous section.

We ask everyone to exercise caution, plan ahead, and make responsible decisions while on the water. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our waterways and community safe.

Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority will update the public on changes through social media and our website.
