Public Information Centre - Saugeen Shores
Aiming to strengthen community resilience and safety, Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), in collaboration with Water’s Edge Environmental Solutions, has initiated a vital study focused on updating the floodplain mapping in the Southampton area. This initiative primarily seeks to enhance our understanding of flood risks and explore potential mitigation strategies.
Floodplain mapping plays a crucial role in guiding decisions related to safeguarding people and properties from natural hazards.
We cordially invite residents and other interested community members to a Public Information Centre. Here, attendees will have the opportunity to examine the study area, learn about the intricacies of floodplain mapping, and engage in discussions. The community’s invaluable feedback through anecdotes, written submissions, photographs, and more, particularly regarding any past flooding experiences in this area, is highly encouraged.
Draft results of the study are anticipated to be available this coming winter.
